THESIS AND NOTES

AN APPLICATION OF MARKOV CHAIN IN CHANCE-BASED BOARD GAME DESIGN
      The thesis explored the use of Markov chain model and Monte-Carlo simulation to analyze and tune the prototype of a chance-based board game. The ultimate design goals of game lengthand game play complexity are set. In order to achieve the goals we also introduce a method to transform the original Markov chain into a new chain to analyze game process and results. Based on the results, I tuned the prototype by adding new conditions and tweaking some critical parameters. Some minor modi cations in the rules are necessary as well.In the end, we analize our model and verified the results.

      I like to disect games when I play games. One day some randoms thoughts came to my mind when I playing PUBG mobile and the popular Chinese MOBA game Kind of Glory. How could we improve these games to deliver a better player experience? Here's my daily notes from playing the games.
